Hamilton, Bermuda--April 23, 2010 -- Bermuda yesterday signed a Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) with the Kingdom of Bahrain. This double taxation agreement marks the first full DTA signed by Bermuda.

Kingston -- Feb. 24, 2010 -- A sum of Euro17 million (J$2.2 billion) is to be injected into the Consolidated Fund early in the new fiscal year, to provide budgetary support, as a result of the fall-out in the bauxite/alumina sector, that has severely impacted the economy.

The following is an open letter to President Obama from the Cayman Islands Financial Services Association: May 5, 2009

Dear President Obama:

We are pleased with your announcement that the United States intends to restore balance and fairness to its global tax policy. We agree with your focus on preventing tax fraud and evasion; ensuring that every corporation pays its fair and lawful share is important. We stand with you in favoring effective prevention of tax fraud and evasion and maximum transparency between tax jurisdictions, including the Cayman Islands.

Cayman -- March 6, 2009 - The publication of US  Senator Carl Levin’s proposed bill Stop Tax Haven Abuse  could spell a severe contraction of the offshore business in the Cayman Islands the Leader of the Opposition McKeeva Bush has warned.

March 10, 2013 -- A release posted held an hour ago on the Central Bank of Belize Website announced that Superbond 2.0 has been fully subscribed. That means the deal to renegotiate this huge chunk of Belize debt is now complete, all the bondholders have subscribed to the terms of the bond.

Bridgetown - Dec. 23, 2012 - "The most recent ratings downgrade by Moody's Investors Service comes as no surprise to us in the Ministry of Finance or in the Government, as a whole." This was the immediate reaction of Minister of Finance, Christopher Sinckler, today to the news that Barbados' credit rating status was reduced by Moody's.
